The mission of Breast Cancer Network of Strength is to ensure, through information, empowerment and peer support, that no one faces breast cancer alone. Network of Strength conducts the only 24/7 Support Call Center, staffed entirely by breast cancer survivors who are trained peer counselors. Network of Strength houses a wigs and prostheses bank to provide products to women with limited resources.
Throughout the year, Network of Strength conducts the “A Day for You” program to increase awareness and detection in underserved communities. Participants of “A Day For You” are educated about earlier detection methods for breast cancer, taught self breast exams, given a clinical breast examination and, if appropriate, on-site mammograms. The program also assists women who have abnormal screening results in obtaining proper follow-up care. The Network of Strength Southeast Affiliate has recently hired a Community Outreach Coordinator who is focused on providing breast health services to the African American community in the region.
